This project pushed me outside of my comfort zone in the best way. My challenge was to combine 3 different artworks from 3 very different artists and fit them into one cohesive video— which made me conceptualize with a whole new approach! I used the darkness of @brookeshaden’s photos and the brightness of @martellusb’s illustration + @surfaces song to tell the story of finally finding your creativity when you thought you lost it. It’s been years since I wrote a poem but I was really excited to get back into it here by adding words to compliment the visuals (which I’ve never done before!) Almost all of my other videos are based on a single shot, but I wanted this to feel more like a short film than an effects video, so with this project I put a lot of time into storyboarding and figuring out how to portray the concept visually. Somehow we managed to capture everything I wanted, including the impossible clone shot where it starts cloudy and is full sun by the end of the camera movement (thanks to @jamal.eid’s insanely accurate sun spotting abilities!)
