In a world that often feels upside down and back to front, we take solace, hope and inspiration from artists that devote their lives to shining a mirror for us all, inviting us to question, challenge and see the world and our connection to it through a slightly different lense. At The Flower Laboratory the profound work of @agnesdenes is like an unseen pulse, breathing life into our spirit reminding us of the power of art, nature and humans. This film features WHEATFIELD - A CONFRONTATION where in 1982 two acres of wheat was planted and harvested in a landfill two blocks from Wall Street, the World Trade Centres and faced the Statue of Liberty. It was planted on land then worth $4.5 billion and created a powerful paradox. This was a symbol, a universal concept; representing food, energy, commerce, world trade and economics and referred to mismanagement, waste, world hunger and ecological concerns. Needless to say, this was at a time when these matters were not as widely discussed and debated as they are today. Artists are often ahead of their time, delivering messages and creating a dialogue before we are ready to listen. In the case of Agnes Denes our eyes and ears are wide open. Thank you to @circa.art for the incredible exhibit of Denes work during the past month at Piccadilly Circus Lights. #agnesdenes #publicart #art #powerofart #concepts #wheatfield #environmentalart #environment #natureconnection #philosophy #poetry #weareallconnected
