My current opinions on Petsmart... 😳 Let’s be clear, the topic of chain pet stores and animal welfare is a lengthy, nuanced conversation. I firmly believe that corporations or mass-scale generic pet stores (i.e. not specialty exotic stores) should not be able to sell live animals. This promotes mass breeding, which often comes with animal neglect or even abuse. Not saying that’s ALWAYS the case but it often leads to that. This is why I do not support live animal sales in chain pet stores. It is NOT rescuing. It is feeding the cycle. But when it comes to pet supplies, chain pet stores may be the ONLY option for some people in more remote or rural areas or life situations. With this in mind, it’s hugely important that chain pet stores or corporations improve upon the supplies they are selling... and it seems that Petsmart is making some of those key changes and improvements!
