@wiederhoeft_ SS23: The Spell “The Spell” is our eighth collection, and first runway show. For this occasion, we present five topics: I. Sisyphean obsession: Could the very best thing, also be a very good thing? II. Selective memory: Would it be that even if, even if it didn’t then? Would you do it all again? III. Postgender ideation: Is it possible to extract formal elements from a source material that is the basis of so many fantastical tropes? IV. Fate vs. free will: Was there a version of the story where Princess Aurora didn’t prick her finger on the spindle of the spinning wheel? V. The bright idea: Would it get some wind for the sailboat? We examine childlike joy and naïve creativity. The very human experience of experiencing crushing heartbreak and ecstatic joy simultaneously. The magical wonder of seeing the first inspiration. The temptation of a bad idea. The joy and fragility of the single bright idea.
