For #wednesdaywisdom we recognize Preet Didbal, the first Sikh woman elected as mayor in the nation. She was born in Yuba City, CA, and was the first in her family to graduate college and receive her master’s degree. After serving almost 20 years as a city servant in California, she became the first Sikh woman to be elected to a US city council in Yuba City. Didbal later served as mayor between 2017 to 2018.
