Somewhere over the vastness that is middle America between 31,000 and 38,000 feet in the air, stuffed uncomfortably close to a stranger, I drew this. I really like the challenge of drawing on an airplane. The discomfort of fitting my above average sized body in a seat designed to accommodate the average size of a human, my elbows occasionally brushing against my neighbor in a silent war for occupation of the armrest. The time constraints between when we will land and the various drink drop offs and trash pickups. Maintaining a level of acute awareness of my neighbors body movements to anticipate when he’s getting up to use the bathroom, willingly accommodating and never meeting his eyes directly. We are in this together. We will get there. I don’t know your name, I only know your destination.
