And before you say it's not a fair comparison, you need clothes to go outside. You need well fitting clothes to get a job, to go to work, to take your kids to school. Clothes are a basic need, like food or housing. Thrifting might be better for the environment, but you have to do so in a way that isn't taking from the low income folks who don't have other options of places to buy clothes from. There's a big difference between thrifting an oversized tee (which are easier to find) and thrifting a nice pair of 5XL pants.
