I was seven and my brother Maurice and I were watching at our friend John Denmark's house - they had a colour television. I remember seeing a black man playing football on TV. A black man loved by everyone. A black man who was the best player on the pitch. It was you. The miss in 1970 when you rounded the goalkeeper, the header in the final, the layoff to Carlos Alberto. The skills we all wanted to do. A World Cup winner at 17. I wanted to be you. We all wanted to be you. You were more than an inspiration - you made me believe I could be a footballer.
