GC visits an exhibition of paintings, titled ‘Guardian Spirits’ by Helen Brahma. Helen is one of Odisha’s distinguished woman artists. She sees the subtle and symbiotic relationship between artisans and Nature, as a form of the empowerment of beauty and grace. Wrapped in traditional Odiyan ikat (Sambalpuri) textiles, her animals, which are vehicles of the goddesses and personification of the latter’s creative energies, achieve a kind of imperviousness against any evil intent.
