This past winter, my boys were traveling with their dad, and I was spending Christmas Eve solo. I had planned a quiet night at home, but as the sun set, loneliness flooded over me. So, I texted my friend Mo (above), who lives a block away: “Hey, could I ever swing by?” That night, I walked to their house, played with their kids, ate too many sugar cookies, and watched some magic tricks. Before heading home, I thanked Mo and her husband Nathan, and he looked up and said, “Come anytime, and come every time.” My heart! What a beautiful and generous statement of friendship.
