On the occasion of today’s “International Migrants Day”, we want to focus on the important work of renowned Colombian artist Doris Salcedo. Her expressive installation “Palimpsest“, which you can currently see at Fondation Beyeler, is dedicated to all refugees and migrants who have lost their lives in the dangerous crossing of the Mediterranean or the Atlantic in search of a better life. In her objects, sculptures and site-specific interventions, Doris Salcedo deals with the repetitive cycle of violence, indignation, mourning, memory and forgetting. By moving people with her art and themes that could not be more topical, Salcedo is one of the most important contemporary artists. Experience her touching installation “Palimpsest“ at Fondation Beyeler until 17 September 2023 and look forward to Doris Salcedo’s large-scale exhibition at Fondation Beyeler in summer 2023. #FondationBeyeler #BeyelerSalcedo #DorisSalcedo #SalcedoPalimpsest #internationalmigrantsday Credit: Doris Salcedo, Palimpsest, 2013–2017, Installation view, Fondation Beyeler, Riehen/Basel, 2022, Hydraulic equipment, ground marble, resin, corundum, sand and water; dimensions variable, © the artist, Video: k/g Studio Zürich
