Dear Ukrainians (or friends of Ukrainians that can ask them). The illustrator @pan.makes and I would love to create 2 calendars, with Frances’ illustrations of vegetarian recipes from all over Ukraine. The first calendar will cover 12 regions and the second the other 12. Each month will represent a region through a dish - and Frances will make an illustration. I will write the words and recipe. If you are from one of the regions below, please can you nominate a vegetarian recipe or an ingredient that represents your oblast the most. Please nominate a dish (can be a salad, pickle, jam, ragu, dessert, anything non-meat and non-fish). I picked fermented watermelons for Kherson so the first batch of remaining 11 regions are: Odesa (thinking vegetable ikra) Mykolayiv Zaporizhzhya Donetsk Luhansk Dnipro Kharkiv Poltava (was thinking dried pears or pickled plums) Sumy Kyiv (Kyiv cake?)
