A bit of context on the MATTE redesign: when Jesse came up with the new logo I loved it because it looked very “magazine” to me. Then I remembered the movie Hanging Up, which is a dramedy from the year 2000 about how Meg Ryan can’t get off the phone. Diane Keaton plays her sister, a self-obsessed magazine editor named Georgia, whose eponymous magazine “GEORGIA” uses a strikingly similar font to the new MATTE. When I was growing up, before the collapse of print, being a magazine editor really seemed like the most glamorous job in the world. I saw this depiction along with countless others like the show Just Shoot Me and internalized them. In some ways this is my life now! Ugly Betty and Devil Wears Prada came later and I guess by then it was too late. Anyhow, just a peak behind the curtain. Call me @diane_keaton !
