Happy Pride! ❤️🩷🧡💛💚🩵💙💜🤎🖤🤍 When I think about inclusive community spaces in Glastonbury, @riverbendbookshop is the first place that comes to mind. It’s been really difficult for me transitioning from living in large progressive cities to a suburban town like Glastonbury - where folks are much more conservative (or quiet for the sake of not making waves). Especially as a teacher, my loud inclusive voice used to be something that was encouraged and celebrated, but that is not the case in this district. Having spaces in the community that openly and proudly uplift and celebrate diverse identities, cultures, sexualities, and stories, is so so so so important - and I’m glad to have such a rad one in my town 📚 • I have decided that to celebrate the summer, I am challenging myself to complete one digital illustration every week for the 11 weeks of summer. 💖☀️I will be choosing to recreate local places that have significance to me (what else is new? haha) in an effort to sit with and study my own experiences and gratitude for those places.
