I get stoked when I watch someone younger than me skate , and I get a glimpse or a flashback in their skating, of some of my favorite skaters growing up that had that same huge influence on me. Growing up, my buddies and my trick selection was pretty much dictated by what our handful of favorite skaters were doing at the times. If Monty Nolder, @kenj67 , Jeff Phillips or any other of our small handful of favorite skaters did something in a magazine that looked sick, you could bet our little 15-16 year old asses were out there getting broke off trying to figure it out or learn it! 💥😫 Sometimes it worked, a lot of times I didn’t! 🤣 It was harder back then to figure out by a still photo, how they got in or got out of a trick, or how it was being done. 🤔I see a lot of Chris Miller’s style in @jimmy_wilkins . I saw a lot @dannyway’s innovative trick selection and smooth style influence on @colinmckay when Colin was young, and I now also see a lot of Jimmy Wilkins, @colinmckay and @tonyhawk influences on @reese__nelson skating. These guys all mentioned, heavily influenced my skating growing up. And likewise... lf seeing this backside air to fake it by @ibeborden doesn’t give you Tom Boyle 🙏flashbacks, then it’s time to go back and study your skateboarding history on old VHS video tapes. There’s only a handful of people that do these as good as Tom’s did them, and Josh is in that handful.🙌
