SAFESPACE: A Photo Story about Men’s Mental Health As a Black man, I believe mental health is something we need to change the narrative on. Black men are four times more likely to commit suicide than Black women. The goal of this shoot is to let Black men know we shouldn’t have to suffer in silence. Black men should be allowed to be emotional or open and not be shunned by society. This photo story depicts a real conversation between 9 Houston Men who didn’t know each other previously. Inspired by the work of Kendrick Lamar, we work to end the stigma Mental Health has in our community. The playlist is curated featuring songs by Men/Non-Binary who are self reflecting on their identity and mental health as well as pick me up songs when you need a psychological boost.
