It’s been a busy few months helping set up a fantastic campaign for @skeng.don debut EP ‘Beast Of The Era’. Released on his own label, RG Music (Ratty Gang Music), tonight at midnight. I love bringing people from different worlds and backgrounds together to collaborate as the results are often spectacular and cutting edge. I’ve known William Richards for nearly 30 years. For me he is the definition of a pop culture portrait photographer, successfully documenting key moments in New York’s hip hop culture and Jamaica’s past reggae and dancehall scenes. I believe he has beautifully captured the mood and vibe of Skeng and the raw emerging creative trap dancehall scene that’s coming out now from the inner cities of Jamaica. It’s been a pleasure to work again on a music project with longtime friend, Dave Calderley who was formerly my art director at Gee Street Records back in New York before he went on to be art director at Island Records and V2. He now has a cutting edge design shop in Harlem, NY called Graphic Therapy.
