✨Magical Parisian Golden Hour ✨ This visit to Paris was an absolute dream. From the moment we touched down at Orly, I had a flood of feelings. Ones I have not felt for a very long time. Story Time: I lived in France for a year right after high school. I lived way out in the country in Limousin, an area in central France known mostly for cattle and agriculture, near the small city of Limoges. In this tiny town, St Leonard, no one spoke English so I was completely emerged in the language and local culture. Living in rural France at 18, I learned a lot about myself and my national identity. I traveled to Paris quite a few times during my year abroad and traveled around the city on my own. I learned young to get comfortable with learning the metro and finding my way around the city on my timid but fluent French. We had no phones back then. No Google maps. No translate apps. I learned a lot about myself during this year abroad. I have not been back in 25 years. I have not remembered much of this in over two decades. A rush of feelings hit me as we rolled up to our Parisian apartment. I remembered my train rides from Limoges as a teen and how excited I was to leave the country and travel the city on my own, staying at hostels and makjng my way around Paris. I was returning now more than double my age with a whole new view on life and travel and the French culture. The first few hours in Paris were full of many intense feelings. I felt myself zinging inside my skin. This golden hour is one of the first moments exploring the city again.
