When I quit my cushy office job that was close to home in Kendall, my parents were ~understandably~ concerned It was kind of a big sacrifice for me to go all the way to Miami Beach where I made a measly wage, had to deal with parking tickets, and once cried all the way to Tremont Towing where I basically handed them 2 weeks of work for my car back... It wasn’t glamorous but I felt called to do it... almost like it wasn’t a choice of mine but a NEED. I even took a second night job at EF to be able to cover my costs of university life and really hustled my way in the tourism industry. While my parents begged me to find another job, I refused, and chose to listen to a different doctrine that they themselves had also taught me. And that was to follow my heart because no matter what it is you do, if you do it with passion, the money will come. I’m not sure where this path is going but what I do know is that it feels right. I remember mourning this profession as I figured after graduating I would have to look for a “big girl job” ... luckily I graduated in December 2019 so when COVID hit I started making content about Miami’s history and we all know where that goes... So grateful that I get to continue doing something I love to do, expanding it, grow a whole other career out of it, and I can continue learning every single day. ✨ This upcoming Monday I will be 1 of 4 panelists speaking at DISRUPT’s speaker series focusing on Entrepreneurship.
