SWIPE to see the Before & After Okay y’all so this may be a long caption but the colorgrading I did for this came with a lot of woes lol! I literally colored it THREE times till I felt it was at a good place! I’m no colorist so lol So we knew going into shooting this the look and feel we wanted! The tones and all! So going into the edit I knew how I wanted to do it. P.s. I didn’t want to edit this or color it lol. I was really a perfectionist and even now I’m still like I can do differently lol. I used @filmconvert to add the grain and the film look and really leaned into the warmer tones which I think is my look. We used canon FDs from @old_fast_glass and canon c200s to shoot this so I leaned into my staple vintage feel! The lenses calibrated differently so the two cams had to be colored differently. I shot all B roll on the blackmagic 6k so that also was colored differently! Crazy enough we actually had a colorist. I showed him the color of what I wanted and they couldn’t get it to this so I decided to color it myself. I think that’s when I learned you don’t have to be perfect, you just have to practice and become what you need for you! I still prefer a colorist any day but I’m thankful I was able to at least use my skills to create something so beautiful! The film is screening virtually right now for the @micheauxfilmfest! So definitely sign up to watch this poetic piece by the team and I! Edited and colored in premiere.
