Roxy & her lil remoras!💙 The remoras hanging on her skin do not harm her- they have commensalism symbiotic relationship. This means that one animal benefits (the remora) while Roxy is neither harmed or benefitted. The remora gets free travel and the ability to feed off of Roxy’s scraps! 🦈🦈🦈 for those of you who don’t know- Roxy is a 16ft tiger shark with a prominent jaw deformity. This was caused by human impact- most likely from a fisherman clubbing her or from her trying to free herself from a net. Fishermen commonly club sharks because they view them as “competition”.
