If you do then you have to try these! Holding your arms up in the air while doing intricate repetitive movements can cause aches and pains. In fact, over half of hairdressers get neck and shoulder pain and nearly 2/3 get back pain. If you’re a hairdresser, what can you do about it? Good news! Exercises and stretches can help prevent/treat injuries to the shoulder. Exercises: 1. Doorway stretch (low hand placement) 2. Doorway stretch (High hand placement) 3. Foam roller stretch (high and low hand placement) Hold each stretch for 20-30 seconds 2-3x. For the foam roller stretch you can hold for a minute or 2.
