Derrick Smith was not only a valued member of the MAC Melanin Beauty Collective, he was also our friend. His passing leaves us shocked and heartbroken. We will miss his calm and collected manner. We will miss his insights and astute observations. We will miss his sense of humor and his chuckle, and the rich tone of his voice. The twinkle in his eye. His penchant for fashion. His amazing artistry. He was a wonderful person, and we are fortunate to have known him. He was a light in this world. To honor him, we’ll be taking a little break from this account so we can mourn, remember, and reflect. Our hearts go out to his family and all who loved him.
