What a ride. In hindsight, doing the first ever student led show, with live music by actors, with roughly half of the instruments called for, and about a month and a half to pull the whole thing together, was absolutely insane. But the more I thought about it, the more I realized how we’ve never really had the ingredients for the show before, and we may never again. It’s been the time of my life seeing @carlyebower come into her own as a teacher of music, and watch as she set the show to life, seeing @casecarrolll return to the stage and bring so much power to the music through his voice and actually insane ability with the guitar, seeing @emmamontyg bring a devastating level of authenticity and move so many people (including myself) to tears, was a joy that’s hard to put to words. All three of them put so much time, effort, and emotional energy into this show and I owe it all to them. I am so proud of my cast, crew, and the show we put on together. It was a genuinely life-changing experience that I’m proud to call mine and I’m proud to call the first. And I hope it isn’t the last. Thanks to my cast, everyone who helped me out along the way, and everyone who came out to see it. And thanks to @jdmontgo who set the perfect example for what a show should be, and making this program so special and important to me for all these years. It’s been real.
