I can post naked photos. I can swear with reckless abandon. I can broach highly controversial topics. Not that I necessarily will- it's just, now, I could!
My social media account belongs to me, finally. With retiring, I no longer have to post for other people, monitor what I say or show or stand for based on my affiliation with brands. I am grateful to have had that opportunity. And, the outside expectation of needing to post on others' behalfs limited me feeling free with my own voice in the world. (@smartwool was a notable exception and no coincidence they are the ones that are sticking around for this new chapter ❤️)
To get my voice back-for it to feel totally my own again- is exhilarating and bewildering.
It's sort of like when you first move out of your parents' house. You can do whatever you want! You can have keggers, one night stands, paint the walls a crazy color, eat chicken nuggets for breakfast. The taste of freedom! No rules!
In my case, my rebellion has taken the form of sparse posting. Savoring these sweet moments for myself, like letting honey melt and dissolve in my mouth. Following my joy and letting it gestate. What a wonderful freedom, to live these moments with no work responsibilities.
I get a lot of people asking how I'm making a living- the answer is I'm not. I put my health coaching business on pause and am living on savings to really make the most of this chapter. I don't know for how long yet. Maybe until my savings run low 🤷🏼♀️
And yet, I'm also itching to share. To share the joy, the musings, the things that bring me healing and reflection. Like a little seed poking it's head above soil in the spring, I'm antsy to just share what I feel is beautiful or meaningful.
Also isn't it so weird we feel we have to keep the world up to date via social media with everything that is happening in our lives? Ugh. If you need permission to not do that and live your life, consider this a permission slip, as I had to do, to only share when I feel moved. May inspiration and beauty lead the way ❤️.
