wrote and directed this visual poem for the families in uvalde texas and beyond. made with production help from the folks at remezcla. edited by fernando bencomo. original score by my friend and frequent collaborator malcolm parson. went back read and re-watched and included words and images from the puerto rican obituary by pedro pietri — a poem about death and hope. pietri helped me reflect on the complicated nature of the u.s. its widespread violence. its ongoing allure for immigrant and families of color. and the cost of living and dying. i can’t stop thinking about all the close friends and family ive lost to gun violence in the u.s. five close friends. one uncle. peace to all of them.
