In addition to our mentorship program, which aims to create a more open, inclusive, and diverse wine industry, Diego and I recognize that as white men, we've realized privileges throughout our lives that are in direct contrast to the lack of opportunity experienced by so many others. As part of our ongoing action plan, we will donate $500 every month to a different organization and use our platform to highlight and amplify the work of these groups dedicated to bringing lasting and sustained change to marginalized and oppressed communities. We invite our supporters to learn more about these important organizations and make a donation, as well. This month, we are supporting the work of Farms to Grow, an Oakland-based non-profit dedicated to assisting underserved farmers. Founded in 2004, Farms to Grow was established to address the systemic inequality in agriculture that has led to black farmers owning only 0.52% of all farmland in the US. In addition to education, policy, training, and other outreach programs, they helped found the Freedom Farmers' Market in Oakland so that BIPOC farmers would have a place to sell their products.
