Anaheim and all of Southern California is set to see extreme heat over the Labor Day weekend.
We are preparing for the heat, and city teams will be on duty throughout the holiday weekend.
@anaheimutilities expects steady power supply during the heat wave. But amid high heat and high demand, there is always the chance of unplanned issues that can come up. Crews will be on duty and ready to respond.
We will have cooling centers, splash pads and Pearson Park Pool open.
Below are tips to keep cool and what to know.
Ways to beat the heat:
* Stay hydrated with water and electrolytes
* Turn off lights and close curtains and blinds to keep heat out of your home
* Avoid using the oven to cook, and use an exhaust fan when you do
* Seek shade outdoors and limit outside activities during peak heat
City facilities where you can visit to escape the heat:
* Anaheim libraries, open regularly scheduled hours
* Anaheim community centers, regularly scheduled hours with Labor Day hours below
* Ponderosa Park splash pad, open daily at 2100 S. Haster St.
* Miraloma Park Family Resource Center splash pad, open daily at 2600 E. Miraloma Way
* Pearson Park Pool public swim on Saturday and Sunday, 2–5 p.m., reserve a time slot at anaheimymca.org
Two cooling centers will be open on Labor Day Monday from noon to 7 p.m.:
* Brookhurst Community Center, 2271 W. Crescent Ave.
* Downtown Anaheim Community Center, 250 E. Center St.
