A sixth sense, instinct, deeper knowing.
Maybe a stranger instantly gave you butterflies, or you felt a knot in the stomach from pursing a work project, or became suspicious of a message received.
Does that sound familiar and what are gut instincts, really?
Instincts, like first impressions, serves the brain’s need to predict for what will happen next. First encounters are rapid, holistic assessments of people based on subtle perceptual cues and judgment of intent to help or harm.
Us humans depend on survival and on avoiding danger, so our mental apparatus is wired to be alert to signs of danger and to register them before we can recognize and act on them.
When we approach a decision intuitively, our brain works in tandem with your gut to quickly assess all your memories, past learnings, personal needs, and preferences and then makes the wisest decision given the context. In this way, intuition is a form of emotional and experiential data.
Even if you’re not consciously using your gut instincts, you still probably experience benefits from it every day. And if you’re still doubting that there is such thing as gut feelings I highly recommend by starting to cleansing out your gut. A gut full of noise, old waste, and parasites might not serve as good as a healthy, clean gut.
