“Closed hearts” part of my gate series of ceramic sculptures. Gates keep you safe. They provide a physical sense of protection but what are you protecting? Is it setting boundaries? Or living out of fear? I’ve been analyzing the gates I’ve put up in my life for protection. Some of them still erected from old traumas. It’s in this cathartic process of working with my hands that I can self reflect on my internal architecture. What gates do you have up? If they are getting in your way, dismantle them.
