HENGE #LDF22 Festival Commission at Wren Landing, Canary Wharf.
This sculptural form invites those who work, live and visit the area to engage with it creatively.
Inspired by the Neolithic stone structures that "create a space separate from the outside world," Henge is a space for relaxing and contemplation, as well as a gathering place that attracts and welcomes larger groups of people.
“Entering stone circles is a magical experience and a very physical one, which allows us to connect to something outside of time,” says Alan Stanton, Principle Director of @stanton_williams.
The pavilion itself is made of 150 million year old Jurassic limestone, a zero carbon, recyclable material. It is intended that lighting will accentuate the form and play against its rich, textured surfaces.
Henge is an @lsi_stone, @stanton_williams and @webbyates engineers initiative in collaboration with @experimentadesign and London Design Festival, with support from @seamdesign in collaboration with @light_projects and hosted by Canary Wharf at Wren Landing.
HENGE will be in situ at Wren Landing until end of October 2022.
