In our #NakedWithoutUs campaign we highlight the lack of credit costume designers receive for their work which impacts pay equity. @NYTimes @ajrotunno @christyyyyk has published several articles on ‘stylish characters’ or commented about a character’s look on a TV show or film in the fashion section of the media outlet. However, the creator and designer behind these momentous ‘looks’ are costume designers. Why does a fashion designer get fair credit, but the noteworthy work of a costume designer gets left behind? In this #NYTimes article about “The 93 Most Stylish People of 2022,” there are tons of fictional characters listed but not a single #costumedesigner is credited. Since it’s easy to credit a fashion designer but somehow difficult to #CreditCostumeDesigners for their cultural impact in the stories we all know and love ... we thought we would do the work for @NYTimes. @murielparradiaz #JacquelineDurran @shirleykurata @danacostumes #MichaelMarino @heidibivens @kfhager @cristina_costumes @cwheels @malgosia_turzanska #SofiaKrunegard @fashionalita #TiffanyHasbourne @midnightcloaker @alexbovairdsprouse @catherinemartindesigns _ #NakedWithoutUs #CreditCostumeDesigners #CostumeDesignersGuild #CDG892
