“For whoever has entered God’s rest has also rested from His works as God did from His. Let us therefore strive to enter that rest, so that no one may fall by the same sort of disobedience.” Hebrews 4:10-11 ESV Just like a street sign or a billboard, our busy lifestyles are constantly trying to dictate our direction, but finding time to rest can help prevent ‘direction’ from become distraction. Periods of rest are vital to the soul, whether it’s dwelling in the word between classes, taking a break from studies to live in the moment, or taking a weekend sabbatical to dwell in community away from civilization. Without these periods of rest, one can lose sight of what’s truly important, neglecting not only their relationship with Christ, but their interactions with those they pass in their day to day actions. Just as we’re called to do in Hebrews 4, let us all find rest as the Lord did. He’s created all, planned all, and meticulously placed each of us either where we belong or in a staging area for where He plans to send us next. Rest allows refocus, which revitalizes the soul, and fuels us to better reach our communities. Search for this rest not only in your weekends, but in your daily actions, and it’s always fun when you can rest with a great group of people running the race alongside you! 🫡
