WE MADE IT! Welcome to ISCHIA, voted No. 1 island in the world by @travelandleisure readers in this year’s World’s Best Awards! People often ask me what makes for a #tlworldsbest winner, why some places rise to the top. I think it is cultural sites (see the Castello Aragonese) and LOVELY restaurants that don’t break the bank (important in these times)and just an overall good vibe, from the locals. Ischia has a laid back pace to it, a stepping back in time quality, that reminds me of Anguilla, Bermuda, Kauai, even Montauk all those moons ago... we are staying at the remarkable @regina.isabella which is set in a quiet bay, in Lacco Ameno, and opened in 1956... lots of movie stars have been over the years (Google!) but this is a place of discretion. Plus I am obsessed with the colorful tile floors and the breakfast buffets served on beautiful china, the antiques, the views, and very happy to be back in 🇮🇹 for the first time since 2019. #tlpicks #italy #travel #island
