How I deter Tiger Shark Roxy💙🦈 First and foremost- I am a trained professional, free diver & marine biologist :) Second- I prefer to not touch our sharks if possible, I would rather them respect “my space” by using my body language (and yes, I know the ocean is the sharks space- if Roxy or any sharks were ever being pushy and wanted us “out” we would respect them and get out of the water💙) I saw Roxy heading towards me (the boat is directly behind me) and I check over my shoulder to make sure there are no other tiger sharks around. Roxy keeps approaching me after showing her with my body language that this is my “space” (aka just me stretching out and being tall in the water). I swim towards Roxy and gently place my hand on her head- she bucks her head up a little bit which happens sometimes when the shark is curious about what you are. I give her a little pat on the head and then remove my hand while scanning around for other sharks. At the end i’m pointing out another tiger to Ocean who is filming. I always love visits from Roxy💙 She’s such a true survivor amazing story to tell people and inspire them to get into shark conservation.
