Once a wealthy livestock herder in the Doolow region of #Somalia, Aden Gurey would never have thought he would need humanitarian assistance one day. He used to own over 500 goats but the #DroughtInSomalia has taken away most of his livestock. With tears in his eyes, Aden explains his plight, “I do not sleep at night; I am always worried about tomorrow and what will happen to my family.” For generations, keeping livestock has been one of the main means of survival for countless pastoral families like Aden’s. Losing their livestock to this drought means many will be forced to abandon their traditional way of living. In Somalia, humanitarian assistance must be sustained over time and improved, as famine is a strong possibility for next year.
