St Edward’s Crown is getting a little work done. ⁠ ⁠ The historic crown was taken from the Tower of London “for modification work” ahead of the coronation of King Charles III, according to a statement shared by Buckingham Palace. The royal heirloom hasn’t been outside the Tower for some 60 years.⁠ ⁠ St. Edward’s Crown was forged in the 17th century and has been used in the coronation of English monarchs for more than 350 years. As per the centuries-old tradition, the king will be presented with the refitted crown during a solemn ceremony at London’s Westminster Abbey on Saturday, May 6, 2023.
