St Edward’s Crown is getting a little work done.
The historic crown was taken from the Tower of London “for modification work” ahead of the coronation of King Charles III, according to a statement shared by Buckingham Palace. The royal heirloom hasn’t been outside the Tower for some 60 years.
St. Edward’s Crown was forged in the 17th century and has been used in the coronation of English monarchs for more than 350 years. As per the centuries-old tradition, the king will be presented with the refitted crown during a solemn ceremony at London’s Westminster Abbey on Saturday, May 6, 2023.
