It's that time of year again when I hope you might help my good friend, Liv. Liv has a rare disease called Nemaline Myopathy (NM) that affects all of the muscles we use for movement. This makes basic activities like walking, breathing and eating very difficult if not impossible for people with NM. Despite these physical challenges, Liv is one of the most driven people I know and is constantly putting herself out there to help others who are presented with the same challenges. All Liv wants is to do things kids her age can do, like walking, running, and playing (especially baseball!). This year A Foundation Building Strength, a non-profit dedicated to funding research for NM, is raising money to create a prototype of an exosuit that could help Liv and people like her move more independently.
