BENNETTS TREE KANGAROO
“There are only 2 species of Tree Kangaroos in Australia- the Lumholtz found in the upland rainforest of the Tablelands and the Bennett’s which is larger. The Bennett’s is found in both low and upland rainforest between Daintree River and Cooktown.
These elusive marsupials are nocturnal and extremely cryptic while moving through the rainforest! They use their tail only for balance and spend most of the day in a crouched position up a tree resting. When they are ready to descend for the night to begin foraging, tree kangaroos will use their back feet as brakes heading tail first down a tree!
A rare encounter and my first time that I was actually able to capture it.. ahhh happy exploring 🦘” @alwaysunderwater__
