A little reminder that you don’t have to get the perfect shot to have an epic adventure ⬇️
When we first started this page on Instagram, I definitely got the impression that we had to have epic couples photos and/or perfect landscape photos to be able to share our adventures.
I’m cringing just remembering this, but I remember going out on a few adventures specifically to take photos, because that’s what I thought we had to do.
Very very quickly we realized a few things:
1. We both dread posing in front of the camera.
2. We were spending time when we wanted to adventure taking these photos, and then I would get frustrated when they wouldn’t turn out how I wanted or conditions wouldn’t be perfect.
3. For us, it took away from our experience greatly.
Now there are a lot of people on this app and off who take the most beautiful photos and who, I’m sure, love doing so. But, from our perspective, we honestly grew to really not enjoy it.
What we enjoyed far more has been taking quick iPhone photos of the real moments. The real smiles, real laughs, cooking at camp, waking up in a tent, selfies at the top of a mountain... those are the ones that bring us back to that day and how it felt on that adventure.
Reels have actually been the greatest gift for us, because videos don’t take nearly as much production in our opinion, and they’re actually really fun to create!
So, here’s a little reminder to spend time on your adventures doing what you love and experiencing every moment, not worrying about getting the perfect shot. What really counts are the memories 💚
