For all the gear heads out there curious about Adam’s goat set up!
@adamweatherby Since posting the first pic of my recent mountain goat hunt I received a lot of questions on the gear I used and more info on the adventure. On a hunt like this, I find it especially important to pack equipment that you trust and know won’t let you down in the field. So, for all you “gear heads” here’s my list from this hunt and some additional stats that some may find interesting...
Rifle: @weatherbyinc Mark V Backcountry 2.0 Ti Carbon (5.2lbs was a joy to carry up these mountains)
Cartridge: 338 Wby RPM loaded with @barnesbullets 185 TTSX (performed excellent on a tough animal)
Scope: @leupoldoptics VX6HD 3-18x44 (Outstanding performance without excessive weight)
Binos: @zeisshunting RF’s (Calls out my moa for my given distance factoring environmental data)
Stock: @peakfortyfour Blacktooth (20oz stock!!!)
Bipod: @spartanprecision Javelin (my all time favorite)
Apparel: @kryptek Altitude series (my go-to in the northern country with good people behind a great brand!)
Pack: @stoneglacier R3 (perfect for day pack and packing out goat quarters)
Boots: @kenetrekboots Insulated Mountain Extreme (chilly mornings and steep rocky terrain called for good boots)
Game bags: @argali_official (super lightweight)
Knife: @siembida_custom_knives (stays sharp and is very compact)
Electronics: @garminfishhunt Fenix 7X, Inreach mini and @onxhunt
Outfitter: @elkvalleybighorn (Super great people that provide an awesome experience in beautiful country. I would highly recommend them!)
Shot distance: 350 yards
Pack out: Shot at 4:00pm and made it back to camp at 11:30pm after photos, skinning, quartering, packing off the mountain on foot then the last couple hours on horseback. That day alone totaled 15 miles on the GPS.
Overall hunt review: 👍👍
