The other week I asked you what you’d like to see from my account. I’ve never asked that before because mostly I’ve stayed in my lane. All of that changed when we moved house and all of a sudden there were no finished and instagrammable corners to show you. So you’ve had it all, recipes, fashion, holidays and peeling wallpaper. It’s been a big shift and personally, it feels so much better. So when I asked, it was pretty ruddy lovely to hear that the mix worked for you too. Of course lots of people came here for the perfect vignettes and the immaculately dressed sofas but it’ll be a while before we’re ready for that here. Overwhelmingly came the requests to show more of this house as it is. You wanted to see the details, learn about the history. And you asked for stills so that it can be zoomed in on. So here we are, the hallway and landing. They are magnificent spaces but we are learning from them everyday. We’d assumed everything was original in here but we don’t think it’s all that it seems. @mesh_architects have helped us un pick this space and after a bit of detective work it’s clear that the panelling isn’t original and there would have been a doorway to the right in symmetry with the existing one on the left. We also think the decorative pillars may be an add on. The more we live in this house the more we learn and the more certain we are with the future plans. I have to say, if you’re renovating, that would be my best piece of advice, live with it all first, feel the space. Let me know in the comments what you’d like to see more of.
