In Carmo de Minas, James McLaughlin chats with Luiz Paulo about the Ama Project, Luiz's 100 hectares of Geisha coffee plants. "Ama" is a Japanese word for the women who are famous for diving into the ocean collecting pearls. Luiz playfully relates his quest for the perfect Geisha to this pursuit of the best pearls. We are lucky to catch the plants as they are flowering and preparing for the next season. It'll take about 6 months for these plants to produce the fruit that is ready for the next harvest. For now, we are enjoying the beautiful aroma and stunning visuals the flowers provide.
