(Español 👇🏽: Maternidad) Last month I turned 35 and no, I still don’t want to have babies. I am married to a man I love deeply but my soul, body and mind are not ready nor longing for kids, and this is OK. It’s beautiful! We, unfortunately, live in a society that still puts pressure on women to become mothers, especially in the Latinx community. If you’ve fallen victim to these comments and thoughts, here is something you should understand and embrace fully. Motherhood is a powerful energy that does NOT only apply to having kids. This deep force we have within us can be directed towards your creativity, your connection with nature, your companies or projects, your art, your music, your dance, your cooking. Motherhood means giving life! For me, this translates into germinating seeds and watching my medicinal plants grow, creating my own products with herbs from our garden, writing my book, coming up with new ideas for our eco-responsible companies (@intu.rituals and @casa.earth) rescuing dogs, rehabilitating wildlife, cooking a delicious plantbased meal from scratch, walking barefoot to ground and connect with nature. Oh yes, Mother Nature! For she is the most divine and powerful energy of all. The mother of all creations. Nobody rushes her, for she purely is. Motherhood will always have different meanings to every person. Don’t let anyone define yours or rush you into making a life-altering decision you are not yet ready to make. Work on yourself (spiritually and mentally), break those generational traumas, become the most wonderful version of yourself possible. And then, when (and if) you are ready, your soul will whisper the rights answers. Right now, this is me.
