We have protected same-sex marriage with the Respect Marriage Act, now its time to protect our lives. Last month, a shooter opened fire into an LGBTQ nightclub in Colorado, massacred five people and injured 19. This is not an isolated incident against the LGBTQ community. The hateful rhetoric aimed against the freedoms of gay and queer folk turns into violent action, and THAT is what happened at the Club Q massacre. Our safe spaces cannot stay safe when we allow weapons of war into them. Thoughts and prayers for the victims are not saving lives—powerful legislation will. Survivors urge our Senators to take action now and ban assault weapons. So we ask again: when will it be enough? #LetsBanAssaultWeapons
