Here’s why you should meditate on your fitness journey Just like your body, your mind needs exercise, too! Especially in this age of social media, information overload is real. Meditation is a practice that is meant to focus your attention and reduce the constant stream of thoughts; it gives your conscious mind rest. Because our brains are always on, even when sleeping, intentional mental rest takes work. Hence - why meditation is an exercise that takes practice. This rest can soothe a list of conditions including anxiety, stress, and even depression. These conditions in women can be linked to hormonal imbalance, which can then hinder our physical fitness results. For this reason, meditation is an awesome way to support your physical fitness journey. Out of the many ways to meditate, my favorite is Mantra style - repeating a word, thought, or phrase. This is a great time to program your mind to seek positive confirmation of your body & it’s abilities. Just by having this positive mindset, your mental strength on your fitness journey can also improve. I’ve been using body positive affirmations as mantras for years when I meditate and as a result, I have seen growth in my overall confidence and performance.
