Keith Haring (1958–1990) used his art to fight for LGBTQIA+ equality and safe sex education in a way not seen before, or since. Despite his fame and celebrity as an artist, he remained fiercely committed to social change, donating his time and work to groups and causes like #NationalComingOutDay, #WorldAIDSDay and ACT UP. He also loved working with children, helping them to express themselves creatively, and in turn, channeling his own childlike spirit. Growing up in the 1960s, he knew how to simplify social or political ideas into memorable and meaningful images.
Haring wanted to reach as many people as possible through his work. 'Art is nothing if you don’t reach every segment of the people,' he said. 'Art is for everybody.' Today is International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia. #IDAHOBIT #IDAHOBIT2022
