We just arrived in Grand Cayman Island after our longest passage yet with just us two. One of my favorite things about being with @petewillauer is randomly we'll be sitting somewhere and he'll be like, hey can I read you something? And I'll be like, sure! And he'll whip out his journal or phone and proceed to read me something he's been working on- like an instagram caption- and outta nowhere he just starts reciting this exquisite piece that simultaneously is full of vulnerability, self respect, poignancy, depth, humor, and it's succinct and descriptive. (For reference see his latest post). Somehow he encapsulates our life on Sea Bear, our relationship, the magic of life AND his life lessons all at once. I'm life wtf how do you nail it so hard every time?! But that's just Pete. And in the true masculine way, in this way, he leads for me. He shines the light to where I want to be as well, by merely being his true self. He says: "look, here I am, isn't this fun?!" It's not to say I can't do it until he does: it's to say that he leads in a pure way and inspires me to be courageous and shine my OWN light in my own unique way. As I've come to understand it, in it's highest expression, the masculine creates the container for the feminine to feel safe and supported to bring her full expression. The masculine leads by pureness of being and presence and true example, and the feminine can feel safe to flow and absolutely BLOSSOM like the popping off of spring. This dance yields evolutionary magic, beauty, revolution, and self-actualization. It's a beautiful form of inter-dependence. One of my favorite sayings that he always says with great enthusiasm: " YES!! Pop off my queen!!" when I'm doing something that he wants to encourage me in. It gets me every time.
