STRUCK ROCK Named after Jim Struck who was a nomadic resident along Thornton’s Beach in the early 1900s and also responsible for planting out the coastline with coconut trees. Surrounding the island is an impressive thriving fringing reef system with corals stacked on one another. It’s almost hard to believe considering it’s location found just north of the mouth of the Cooper Creek system, still flushing out the remnants of the Thornton Peak landslide from 2 years ago.Just goes to show how critical mangroves and the rainforest are to reef health. Recent sightings of juvenile bull sharks up Cooper Creek this week too! What have you found in the forest lately?? 📷 by meee 😊 @alwaysunderwater__
