Hello My Darlings, On this edition of Mourning Mondays we are going to highlight some Victorian Beauty Secrets of the past. In my previous Mourning Mondays I've talked about how wearing makeup was something to be kept as a secret in some households. But of course many still wanted to wear certain products to enhance their features. Most upper class women avoided dark shades and colors in their makeup routines, instead they tried to appear as naturally beautiful as one can be. Most of the woman who wore darker shades in their makeup routines were considered 'Painted' or could be considered a prostitute. During this time women did not know that their makeup items were being made using highly toxic chemicals, such as vermillion, mercuric sulphide (mercury), and cinnabar. Excessive use of these key elements in cosmetics on skin could result in skin irritation, abscess, insanity, or in worst case, may cause death. Some of these names may some familiar, because they are shades in our Victorian Beauty Secrets Palette. If you haven't tried this palette yet, please do. Thank you for tuning into this edition of Mourning Mondays, please be sure to like, comment and share. Also feel free to ask questions.
